Les Lobi vivent dans le sud-ouest du Burkina Faso et du nord Côte-d’Ivoire et le Ghana. ils sont extrêmement résistants à toute forme d’autorité politique centralisée. Au lieu de leurs communautés sont fondées sur les lois de Dieu. Le personnage central dans chaque communauté Lobi est le spécialiste religieux nommé le Thildar. ce devin est responsable de la communication avec les esprits qui régissent la communauté et protéger les membres de chaque famille contre les accidents, la maladie, la violence et toutes les menaces multiples personnes rencontrent dans l’environnement hostile de l’Afrique de l’Ouest. Les Lobi sculpté représenter les esprits de la nature qu’ils appelaient Thil. Chacune de ces figures affiche différents gestes ou postures, certains d’entre eux peuvent avoir deux ou même trois têtes, quelques figures féminines transporter un bébé sous le bras. Ces caractéristiques uniques représentent le talent particulier ou la puissance de l’être spirituel qu’ils incarnent. Un personnage levant un bras place un barrage à l’entrée des esprits malveillants à la maison familiale.

Ancient anthropomorphic bellows surmounted by an ovoid head in which the orbits are devoid of eyeballs. The brow bones are underlined by a fine incision in the wood, the prognathic mouth is in pout. The object being laid flat, the rear surface has characteristic erosions. According to an ancestral technique, these fire bellows maintained the fire permanently for a few days. The apprentice blacksmiths were introduced by the ancients to the sexual symbolism of the forge bellows. An eroded patina confirms its frequent use.

€3,100.00The Idoma are an ethnolinguistic group that mainly inhabits the western regions of Benue, Nigeria, and related groups are found in Cross Rivers State, Enugu State and Nasarawa State in Nigeria. The Idoma language is classified in the Akweya subgroup of the idomoid languages of the Volta family – Niger, which includes the Alago, Agatu, Etulo and Yala languages of the Benue, Nasarawa and Northern Cross states. The Akweya subgroup is closely linked to the Yatye-Akpa subgroup. Most of the territory is inland, south of the Benue River, some seventy-two kilometers east of its confluence with the Niger River. The Idomas are known to be classy “warriors” and “hunters”, but welcoming and peace-loving. Most of the land of Idoma remained largely unknown in the West until the 1920s, leaving much of the colorful traditional culture of Idoma intact. The population of Idoma is estimated at around 4 million. The Idoma people have a traditional chief called Och’Idoma who is the head of the Traditional Council of the region of Idoma while each community has its own traditional chief such as Ad’Ogbadibo d’Orokam, chief of Enenche.
